My NT4 Boot Splash Image© Copyright Darrell Anderson. Contrary to what some people might believe, I have no major grudges with my aging but reliable Microsoft NT4 operating system. NT4 has served me well for many years and was the last of the benign operating systems and licenses provided by the legal and marketing shysters working at Microsoft. Frankly, if the Microsoft people were not so myopic with trying to rule the software world, and would realize that there could be a huge market in maintaining the older operating systems, they would find me to be a customer if they would release maintenance and security patches for NT4. But that is all I would pay for—patches and bug fixes. None of the additional garbage that came with Windows 2000 and XP, and the original license would always apply. If they could do that I would be a customer. You see, I still can buy replacement parts for various farm tractors that are 50 years old. I still can buy replacement parts for my 18 year old pickup truck. I believe the same should apply to software and computer hardware too. Nonetheless, several years ago I decided to strip Internet Explorer, Outlook, ActiveX, and Scripting from my box, which might partially explain why my NT4 box is far more stable than many people have experienced. With that effort to purge my box to something I wanted, I thought a little humor was in order. Bill probably would shreik at what I did to the splash screen in addition to how I stripped the OS of malware. Well, I think the logo is funny!
A technical clarification: This modified splash image is actually the one I use with my alternate NT4 system partition. I use two system partitions and the second partition serves me as back door for several maintenance tasks. I use a different image for my primary NT4 system partition.
That is an image, not of stars, but galaxies. Galaxies. Does Bill realistically think he can rule anything? Why are the minds of megalomaniacs, politicians, and bureaucrats so obtuse? Finis. |
