Peanut and Vector Linux

© Copyright Darrell Anderson.

Because of my somewhat aging hardware, and because KDE 2.2 is so slow, I decided to try some light-weight Linux distros that did not depend upon KDE. I decided to try both Peanut (9.4) and Vector Linux (3.2).

I never got past the installation routine. No matter what I tried, I could not get either distro to install or boot. They both use the same funky user-hostile installation routine. After two days of truly trying and surfing discussion boards, I quit and moved on to Mandrake 9.0. I want to learn more about what is under the hood, but I do not want to become a computer scientist in the process.

Totally frustating.

Finis.
